LEGAL · AI ETHICS POLICY
Ten Principles. Every Stage of the Genomic AI Lifecycle.
NexGenomics's AI Ethics Policy aligns with UNESCO's "Recommendations on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence" — adopted by all 193 UNESCO Member States — and applies across every NexGenomics product, every employee and contractor, and every partner who builds on our platform.

The Ten Principles.
Proportionality & Do No Harm · Safety & Security · Fairness & Non-Discrimination · Sustainability · Right to Privacy & Data Protection · Human Oversight & Determination · Transparency & Explainability · Responsibility & Accountability · Awareness & Literacy · Multi-Stakeholder & Adaptive Governance
Genomic Data Gets a Higher Standard.
A single genomic dataset can reveal information not just about the person who provided it, but about biological relatives who never consented. Exposure is irreversible in a way a password or account number never is. NexGenomics treats genomic and genetic data as the highest sensitivity tier of personal data — explicit informed consent, purpose limitation, restricted access, and a zero-tolerance standard on unauthorized disclosure.
Bounded Autonomy, By Policy and By Architecture.
Autonomous Genomic Agents operate under a five-level autonomy framework — from Level 1 (observe only) to Level 5 (restricted execution, requiring mandatory dual human approval). No agent takes an irreversible or high-consequence action without a defined human checkpoint, and every deployed agent has a documented, tested override that halts it immediately, without technical barriers.
This is the ethics policy's version of the same claim made throughout the NexGenomics platform: trust is provable, not asserted.
Bias Testing Is Continuous, Not a Checkpoint.
Bias assessments are required at training, pre-deployment, annually thereafter, after any significant model change, and following any incident or complaint — evaluated across protected characteristics including gender, race, ethnicity, age, disability, and genetic characteristics, with a formal remediation plan required within 30 days of a confirmed finding.
Report a Concern.
NexGenomics maintains confidential reporting channels — including an ethics hotline and an anonymous reporting option through the Partner Portal — with a non-retaliation commitment that applies to every employee, partner, and supplier. Reports are acknowledged within two business days and reviewed by the Ethics Review Board within five.
