THE EXECUTION SURFACE · MAPS TO AGA
Gateway & Verbs.
Every action any agent takes — human-initiated or autonomous — passes through the Gateway. The Gateway doesn't expose a sprawling REST surface with an endpoint for every possible operation. It exposes a small set of governed verbs, and breadth comes from how they compose, not from how many there are.

What a Verb Is.
A verb is a bounded, auditable unit of action — not a raw function call. Every verb carries the same guarantees regardless of what it does underneath:
It's scoped. A verb only executes within the authority the calling agent was granted — checked on every call, not cached from the last check.
It's attributed. Every invocation is tied to the identity that called it, the policy that permitted it, and the data it acted on.
It's observable before it's reversible. High-consequence verbs pass through a validation and, where required, a human-authorization step before they take effect — not after.
Illustrative verb categories: structure (transform raw data into governed intelligence), query (reason over governed intelligence without mutating it), propose (stage an action for validation), execute (commit an authorized action), attest (retrieve the evidence trail for any of the above).
Bounded Authority, Enforced Per Call.
Authority isn't a role assigned once at agent creation and trusted forever after. Every verb invocation is evaluated against current policy, current scope, and current consequence classification at the moment it's called. An agent that was authorized yesterday isn't automatically authorized today if the policy, the data, or the risk profile has changed.
Human-in-the-Loop, By Architecture.
Some verbs — the ones classified as high-consequence — don't complete without a human authorization step. This isn't a configuration toggle an integrator can quietly disable; it's enforced at the Gateway level, the same way authority scoping is. If a workflow needs a human in the loop, the Gateway makes sure there's a human in the loop.
